Upstream activities in MAFC’s operations are focused on direct engagement with fruit and vegetable producers, be this with smallholders or large scale commercial farming facilities. Whilst MAFC does not directly get involved in the farming production, it is keen to foster long term beneficial partnerships with farmers of any scale through contract farming aimed at rationalizing the supply side of the agricultural industry.

Interacting and sharing our expertise and knowledge with the farming community, we have commenced procurement of fresh fruits and vegetables directly from farms, whilst ensuring that all products subscribe to GAP and EurepGAP standards.

Participating farms and production facilities will also be encouraged to upgrade to Controlled Environmental Farming (CEF) techniques in the long term. to bring them in line with global standards.

In line with our stated goal of “reinventing agriculture” MAFC’s Entrepreneur Programme (MEP) will challenge the current perceptions of agribusiness, encouraging the participation of landowners, farmers, professionals and young adults into profitable self employed ventures and businesses that are sustainable in the long term.

Through MEP, we aspire to develop world class producers and entrepreneurial leaders that are able to build the agriculture business of tomorrow.
