MAFC’s continued investment in midstream value add activities provides us with a competitive edge to further differentiate on our value proposition and to serve various categories of end markets including the strict requirements of international customers.
The initial stage of these investments includes a number of strategically located Collection Centers, Collection Packing & Processing Centers, and Distribution Centres (DC) around the country.
These value-add centres, complimented with the necessary cold chain logistical capabilities for the transit and storage of perishable food items ensures the highest level of product quality and integrity. These centers provide an ideal platform for MAFC to implement the highest level of post harvest management strategies. The typical role of a CPPC is to provide a level of value addition to the various agricultural products that we handle. Adding value through processing is fundamental to our strategy and enables us to provide the required quality for our customers on a consistent basis.
Our processing activities range from basic grading and sorting of fresh produce items to packaging and labelling. This means we are able to customize our output to meet specific quality, grade mix and packaging requirements specified by our buyers. At the CPPC non-graded produce would be converted into juices and dry fruits as part of the strategy to maximize output recovery.
In compliance with the environmental condition under GAP, waste material would be recycled and converted to compost and be used as fertilizers in the production area.
The CPPCs will be operated by highly qualified and experienced managers who will closely monitor all activities for efficiency, food safety and quality.
